Kera - Custom Character Dice

Every set starts with a concept board. Usually, the commissioner sends me some pictures of their character and a pinterest board with images that suggests the themes of the character. I’ll then pick a few of those images to make a cohesive idea for how a set of dice for the character can look. I try to choose things with consistent colour palettes, because too much happening in a dice set is a recipe for disaster. Sometimes I’ll also seek out some other images that tie the ideas together, or connect to the character’s backstory.

Here’s a board I put together for Kera, a changeling with lots of deep cool colours in their aesthetic.

From there I picked out some dried flowers from and bold ink colours to do the resin pour, which you can see below. To achieve my goals for this design, I had to do a set of blanks to set inside the normal dice moulds. For normal commissions designs that require this will have an extra fee, but with the blind dice set commission style which have a flat free, sometimes you get a surprise upgrade :D

@maluridaedice Making insert-style dice always sets me a bit nervous, just because there's an extra step in the process where things can go wrong. but for this design, I kinda felt like I had to do it to get the effect I wanted. hopefully nothing goes wrong while these dice do their their thing #dnd #dice #handmade #art ♬ Missing Pieces - Flawed Mangoes
@maluridaedice here's the finished set of dice inspired by Kera. this custom set was done as part of my #characterdicechallenge and has some pretty flower petals inside I enjoyed making this set, which wouldn't have been possible without my wonderful followers who shared their characters with me for the challenge. if you'd like to see how your dnd character's dice could look, my commissions are open at the moment 😁 #dnd #dice #handmade #art ♬ I'm Not Them - Them & I
