Mabel - Custom Character Dice
It’s not often I get a request for character dice with no visual references, so Mabel was amongst one of the first. Their player sent a very detailed backstory and description of Mabel though, so I was able to build a reference board from that. Music, cottagecore, forestry and cozy, Mabels dice set is among one of my favourites.
We were looking for a vibe with this set more than anything, and that usually means to keep it simple. One base tone, one analogous colour, and a small motif to tie it all together.
As you can see, Mabel’s inspiration board is pretty simple, but there’s a few key notes (pun unintended but not rescinded). We’ve got music, green, and brown.
When I’m trying to make depth in a simple palette I use what is called ‘interference pigments’. These white or clear pigments that sheen (or glitter) with a colour. For Mabel, we went with gold interference to connect the green to the brown as a nice middle-tone.
