Sargasso - Custom Character Dice
Often time when I design character dice, I’ll first look at the colour of the character or their outfits. This is usually a good starting point when building my palette as it’s something already communicated in their art.
However, sometimes a character like Sargasso comes along, and for him, a lot of weight it put into his preferences and the things he is drawn to, rather than the features he didn’t choose for himself. I could have gone with a lovely salmon pink base colour with emerald highlights to match his skintones, but instead I tried to capture how the sky seems to speak to him. See, he’s a star-gazer, and his player’s moodboard had lots of beautiful images of space - so I really steered the ship in that direction for his dice. Deep green and blue colour-shift pigments make a dark sky, and splashes of blue glow pigment illuminate the resin blanks that I was able to decorate with stars.
